Preparation for Homebirth Class

8-Week Long Class

Recommended for parents who are 24-26 Weeks Pregnant

This class will be offered beginning September of 2020.

Please check back for scheduling.

This class meets once a week for 9 weeks.  Best suited for those who have the goal of avoiding the use of medications and interventions.  While this is a holistically focused approach, medications for pain relief are also discussed alongside natural approaches to comfort and pain relief.  This class teaches the birth process, strategies such as relaxation, massage, visualization, and other labor tools.  This class uses an interactive learning approach that allows for consistent hands-on practice through the entire learning process.  Informed Consent and decision-making skills, as well as self advocacy, will be discussed.

You will learn:

  • Pregnancy, Labor and Birth
  • Comfort Measures and Hands-on Practice
  • Pain Medication and Medical Interventions (Unexpected Outcomes)
  • Cesarean Birth
  • Informed Decision-Making and Self-Advocacy
  • Preparation of “Birth Desires” and Birth Plan
  • Decisions for Baby and Birth
  • Postpartum

Please dress comfortably and bring a blanket and pillow to class.  If you have a yoga mat you may also bring that along.  All families are welcome to attend this class, regardless of the chosen birth location. All classes are taught in English.

NOTE:  Due to Covid-19, Classes at Treasured Birth are Limited to 3 Couples Per Class.  Everyone MUST wear a mask, and wash their hands prior to entering the classroom space.  Couples may be close together, and during the hands-on comfort measures, gloves will be offered for hands-on practicing.  Anyone who is coughing, running a fever, or has symptoms of the flu, please stay at home.  Instructors will also follow this practice.  The Classroom will be cleaned and sanitized after each class.
